“Luigi Sergi’s sculptures appear as supports for chromatic combinations for which the sense of space is substantial, achieved through a careful fusion of forms with atmosphere. Color is a determining element, and in it, one can read the roots of the artist’s work, who has long been dedicated to a pictorial representation where attention is focused on effects of volumetrics and plasticity, achieved precisely through careful chromatic modulation. In each composition, a new and unrepeatable invention can be seen, but common to all is their belonging to a cosmos of imaginative unreality, in which objects lose all practical function and become machines with fantastic movements. The sculptures can indeed move not only due to the atmospheric sense that pervades them and seems to make their more delicate and exposed parts vibrate under the pressure of external space, but also because the viewer is irresistibly drawn to touch them, to set the suspended spheres in motion, to change the position of the elements… The sculptures are composed of different parts, often distinguished from each other by different chromatic coloring. Color can spread with flat and uniform tones, and frequent is the use of geometric form, which imposes a precise rigor on the composition, but every tendency towards too rational clarity is regularly dampened by the presence of other elements. Of a completely different nature are, in fact, the direct interventions left by Sergi’s hand in some

parts, where the personal sign of imaginative fantasy is more easily readable.”
