…He instead chose to challenge himself with the difficult technique of linoleum engraving. Using bold lines and sharp chiaroscuro contrasts, softened only by subtle hand-applied touches of color, he introduced the female figure into his material expressionism, interpreting it as the “Great Mother”, a divine entity that generates nature and grants fertility.
