Luigi Sergi’s works underline the latest stage of a journey in art that he constructed first with playful, colorful, vibrant sculptures, then by initiating a pictorial and conceptual investigation focused on visual experiences linked to the ability of shapes to show (or hide) surfaces, objects, thoughts, to arrive at those figural traces that characterize his current research. A path that with increasing depth has unfolded - and continues to unfold - between the apparent and the real, between the known and the unknown, between the interior and the exterior, as revealed by the essentiality of the works exhibited on this occasion. Indeed, his landscapes are clear and luminous, with spatiality and atmospheres suggested by torn and overlapping papers, with colors that live on transparencies to represent a sky and a sea that meet and merge on the horizon line. They are landscapes that live on reds, blues, and azure, made incandescent by the sun or caressed by the lights of dawn to speak of infinity: they are meeting places for fish and birds but also for past and present, for ancient memories belonging to his land and new stimuli born in the Novarese territory. They are light and mobile landscapes, where spaces open up, overlap, multiply, shatter, diversify, following not the laws of vision but those of imagination, emotion, feeling.
