The earth, artistically understood, is a combination of places, spaces, and colors that possesses its own emotional materiality made up of sensations, memories, and moments of life. Through the symbols and messages, we read in Sergi’s paintings, we are transported into an ancient atmosphere, a cosmic dimension where time, instead of being annulled, eludes precise capture. It constantly follows the thread of an imaginary line that originates from an ancestral birth and ultimately seeks fusion within the infinite and ‘chaotic’ matter of the universe. Sergi is not ‘disposable’ in the fast-food culture of recycled fame. The organization of this exhibition is not a tribute or a settling of a ‘natural’ debt with a local artist who has gained recognition beyond Salento. Simply put, as Sergi intends, it represents an artistic and biographical reconnection. This is why the exhibition has an anthological character, a dialogue, a continuous connection with the land that the author has cultivated with strong and deep roots.
